There was rain – a lot of it – early.
There was wind – a lot of it – all day long.
And there was great golf, too – a lot of it – from start to finish in the Three Rivers League boys golf tournament at Oswego Lake Country Club on Monday, April 7.
In the end, West Linn edged away to victory with 306 strokes, while second-place Lakeridge was close behind at 309. The complete team scoring included: West Linn 306, Lakeridge 309, Tigard 313, Lake Oswego 314, Tualatin 344 and Oregon City 344.
West Linn junior Cade McVicker won medalist honors at OLCC with a 2-under-par 69, while Tigard senior Jennings Oelke tied for second in the field of 30 with a 3-over-par 74.
Next up, the TRL’s best will be back in action at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Stone Creek Golf Club in Oregon City.
The Lions – after finishing second a week earlier in the 2025 TRL opener – came back to win at Oswego Lake, while Tigard was a solid third, just seven shots behind West Linn.
Oelke led the way there with his second-place tie (finishing even with Lake Oswego junior Drew Woolworth, the reigning Class 6A state champion) at 74, notching one birdie on the front nine and two more on the back side.
Also competing for the Tigers were: freshman Jake Barney, sixth at 76; junior Quinton Bailey, 13th at 81; sophomore Luke Barney, 16th at 82; and senior Tommy Leeper, 25th at 90.
Tualatin saw its fifth-place finish paced by senior Owen Streeter and his 11-over-par 82, a round that included one birdie on each side and a five pars.
Also competing for the Timberwolves were: sophomore Ethan Paulson, 13th at 81; senior Brady Schneider, 23rd at 86; sophomore Caspen Nguyen-Cunningham, 28th at 95; and senior Jakoby Johnson, 30th at 98.
