Beaverton motorcyclist dies in crash south of Hillsboro

A Beaverton man died in a motorcycle crash Friday evening, April 4, south of Hillsboro.

At 10:08 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a crash in the area of Southwest River Road near Southwest Farmington Road.

According to the investigation, 25-year-old Andrew S. Canela had been traveling north on Southwest River Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and collided with a tree.

The sheriff’s office says high speed was a factor in the motorcycle crash.

An off-duty Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighter was driving through the area when he came upon the crash. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted during their investigation by the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Remotely Operated Vehicle Team.

The Oregon Department of Transportation has reported 94 motor vehicle traffic fatalities in 2025, including five motorcyclists.
