9 high schooler scholarships announced as Beaverton chamber’s Movers of Mountains Gala approaches

While the third annual Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce Movers of Mountains Gala is just around the corner, May 16, the chamber has unofficially kicked off the festivities with the announcement of 2025 scholarship winners.

Nine of these scholarships, in the amount of $3,000 each, will be awarded at the May 16 gala.

The scholarships must be used for post-high-school education. Scholarships are going to:

  • Vrasti Jain, a 2025 graduate of the Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering who wishes to attend Oregon State University.
  • Nihitha Vimalan, a Westview High 2025 graduate also looking to attend Oregon State.
  • Shoni Jain, another Westview graduate, who plans to attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill for public health.
  • Vishnu Namboothiry, a 2025 graduate from Sunset High, plans to attend Oregon State University to study mechanical engineering with an aerospace minor.
  • Lauren Blank, a Sunset High grad, plans to head up the road to attend the University of Oregon.
  • Emery Rea, a 2025 graduate of the International School of Beaverton, wants to attend the University of Washington.
  • Selina Uehara from Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering, who wishes to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities University Honors Program.
  • Misha Nasarpuri, a Sunset High grad who plans to attend Boston University.
  • Ashvika Singhal, a Sunset High Graduate looking to attend Princeton University.

The Movers of Mountains Gala will also present 10 community awards, including Beaverton’s Living Legend for 2025, Chamber Member of the Year, Chamber Corporate Partner of the Year, Beaverton Community Member of the Year and the Chamber Nonprofit Partner of the Year. Awards are also presented for Public Safety Excellence and Dedication to Youth Excellence and Youth Achievement.

The gala, held at the Embassy Suites in Tigard beginning at 5:30 p.m., will feature food, a live band and dancing. According to the chamber, the gala will also feature a silent auction to raise funds for secondary education.
